The Gingerbread House

Your hostess: Rita Hindle

A totally renovated Heritage House, just one block from stores and restaurants.

As Heritage Houses go, this is the genuine article. Originally built in the 1920’s as Jasper weather station, it sits kitty-corner from one of the early Park Superintendent’s Residences.

This is a rear view of the house from the garden.

Your suite of rooms in The Gingerbread House are all on the deluxe upper floor.

It is perfect for parties of two couples.

The Gingerbread House has been renovated by its current owner, Rita Hindle, a professional interior designer. You get to stay in one or both of the bedrooms in the top floor of this gem.

An interior decorator’s dream, each room in this 80 year-old treasure reflects the inspiration of its professional decorator owner.

bathroom

The brand new, shared, four-piece bathroom features a cast iron, claw-foot, slipperback bathtub.

It is set into the "turret" of the house. The five windows of the turret provide a south-facing, 180 degree mountain view.

The suite has two bedrooms:

the Kerkeslin Room

The Kerkeslin Room:

  • an antique double bed
  • cathedral ceiling
the Tekarra Room

The Tekarra Room:

  • a queen bed
  • nick-named The Hobby Room by our guests
the sitting room

The common library/sitting room has a fridge, tea service and its own private second-story deck overlooking the back garden.

The view from this deck, like the one from the bathroom, also includes the mountains east, south and west of the town of Jasper.

The cost is $250 per night (four adults) or alternately $125.00 per couple per night. There are no extra taxes.

We serve a continental breakfast between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m.

The house is on a corner lot with plenty of on-site parking.

Rita, your hostess, has lived and worked in Jasper National Park for over 25 years, and welcomes the opportunity to share from her vast local knowledge of animals, hikes and attractions as you to shape your day’s adventures. Her help also extends to German and French.

    Guten Tag Frau Hindle,

    Thank you
